It's the aim of most golfers to take some shots off their handicap each season. But Angela O'Dwyer is taking it to extremes. Her recent performance in the Novices Cup must be a record. The Castletroy member - playing off 45 - shot an amazing nett 48 in the Novices Cup, played at Nenagh, and in the process cut 11 shots off her handicap. O'Dwyer - who has only taken up the game inside the last 12 months - joined Castletroy last March, although she had also been a member of Nenagh prior to that. Since joining Castletroy she has made great strides. She also proved that she was well capable of playing off her new handicap. Shortly after her wondrous performance in the Novices Cup she shot a highly respectable 32 points off her new handicap of 34, while playing in Limerick.
