Ireland finished their campaign in the Women's Home International Championship on a high note at Harlech yesterday, beating Scotland 5-4.

Ireland were a trifle fortunate to lead 2-1 after the foursomes as Claire Coughlan and Suzanne O'Brien only edged it on the home green against Claire Hargan and Sheena Wood after Hargan had missed a putt of five feet on the l8th.

Alison Coffey and Sinead Keane, triumphed in the top match beating Scottish champion Lynn Kenny and Lesley Mackay by 5 and 3. But the bottom pair of Yvonne Cassidy and Elaine Dowdall went down 2 and 1 to Alison Davidson and Hilary Monaghan.

In the singles, Ireland certainly did not have things all their own way but their leading duo, Coffey and O'Brien, both clinched vital points after tense battles.
