Murray accepts he must change

TENNIS:Britain's Andy Murray recognises he needs to improve his on-court demeanour after being branded a "miserable git" by Tim Henman.

Henman recently declared his successor as British number one must address his temperament if he is to have any hope of winning Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old acknowledges he can appear morose and that the occasional flashes of immaturity are unacceptable, but believes he is making progress in his efforts to change.

"I personally think that off the court I'm pretty happy and don't get too down about things," said Murray.

"But on the court for sure I could be more bubbly, if that's what everybody thinks."

Channon undecided on Guineas run for Nahoodh

HORSE RACING:Mick Channon has not made a firm decision as to whether the luckless Nahoodh gets another Classic chance in Sunday's Boylesports Irish 1,000 Guineas.

The Jaber Abdullah-owned filly, who is 4 to 1 favourite with the sponsors and even shorter with some other firms, got stuck with nowhere to go when making her move in the Guineas at Newmarket before flashing home to be fifth behind Natagora.

Channon, who is still seeking a first Classic victory, could well let her line up at the Curragh with his two other entries still standing their ground being the lesser lights Nijoom Dubai and Eva's Request.

"I don't know yet what runs," said Channon. "I might run one or two. Nahoodh could run, but I don't think Nijoom Dubai will."

Boylesports: 7-2 Lush Lashes, 4-1 Nahoodh, 5-1 Saoirse Abu, 7-1 Caribbean Sunset, Kitty Marcham.

Contador moves up in Giro

CYCLING:Italy's Marzio Bruseghin won yesterday's Giro d'Italia time trial as 2007 Tour de France winner Alberto Contador of Spain stepped up his bid for the overall race lead.

Bruseghin of the Lampre team won the 10th stage of the race, a 39.4km dash from Pesaro to Urbino, in 56 minutes and 41 seconds.

Contador finished eight seconds slower and his Astana team-mate Andreas Kloeden of Germany was third at 20 seconds.

Italy's Giovanni Visconti of the Quick Step team retained the race lead but none of the top three in the standings are considered overall contenders in the three-week event.

Contador is fourth overall and is expected to take the leader's pink jersey in the Dolomites on Friday.

Bruseghin is fifth, 53 seconds behind Contador and Kloeden is sixth at 55 seconds.

Italian contenders Riccardo Ricco and Danilo Di Luca both lost more than two minutes to Contador.

Weightlifters charged

WEIGHTLIFITING:Eleven members of the Greek national team who tested positive for banned substances in March are among 25 people charged in connection with the case, a court official has said.

The official said prosecutor Andreas Karaflos had ended his investigation into the doping scandal by charging the 25 - including former coach Christos Iacovou and his staff, the supplier and the medical team - with nine misdemeanours.

"Athletes are charged with use of banned substances. Coach Iacovou is charged with instigating the use of banned substances by athletes, as well as instigating the production and distribution of banned substances," said the official.

"If convicted, the accused could face up to five years in jail, plus fines," the official added.

Iacovou stepped down as coach because of the scandal and Greece is likely to be barred from sending a team to the Beijing Olympics.

England call up Hipkiss

RUGBY: Dan Hipkiss, the Leicester centre who failed to make the England Saxons squad for the Churchill Cup, was yesterday called up to replace Danny Cipriani for next month's senior tour to New Zealand.

England decided to replace an outhalf with a centre because they felt they had cover at number 10 in Olly Barkley and Toby Flood, who have full caps in the position.
