Ulster and Munster fight back for final

GOLF: Ulster and Munster will battle it out at Royal County Down for the Women's Interprovincial title after thrilling semi-finals in yesterday's seaside sunshine.

Both teams had to come from behind after losing their morning foursomes but produced the goods in the singles. Holders Ulster lost the foursomes 2-1 to Connacht, but, after Danielle McVeigh halved her top singles with Sarah Helly, Charlene Reid and Louise Coffey set them on the victory trail.

Reid dismissed Niamh Kitching by 6 and 4, while Coffey demolished Aibhe Farrell 7 and 6 to make up for a defeat in the foursomes when Farrell and Holly Robinson blitzed Coffey and Gemma McCleneghan.

Leinster had a clean sweep in the foursomes and only needed two wins in the singles, but it didn’t happen. Munster turned in a sparkling afternoon show to tie the battle at 4.5 each before Gillian O’Leary grabbed a tie-hole victory.
