Northern Ireland v Estonia: Northern Ireland chalked up their first victory in four games since beating England by overcoming Estonia 1-0 in a friendly at Windsor Park.

It was a good display by Lawrie Sanchez' side against a side 25 places above them in the Fifa rankings.

Ivan Sproule of Hibernian got the winner with his first goal for Northern Ireland when he got on the end of a flick on from James Quinn after two minutes.

Scotland v Switzerland: Switzerland swept Scotland aside 3-1 in their World Cup warm-up on Wednesday for their first victory on Scottish soil.

First half goals from Tranquillo Barnetta on 20 minutes and Daniel Gygax four minutes from the interval put the Swiss in control.

Barnetta volleyed a knee-high cross from Ricardo Cabanas past the goalkeeper from 15 metres and Gygax headed powerfully into the net from 10 metres.

Scotland hauled a goal back when Kenny Miller charged free on the right in the 55th to drill a magnificent low shot across substitute goalkeeper Fabio Coltorti into the left of the net.

Cabanas, however, rattled a rising 10-metre shot into the top left-hand corner to restore the two-goal gap in the 69th minute.

Croatia v Argentina: Croatia fought back from a goal down to upset fellow World Cup contenders Argentina 3-2 in an entertaining friendly played in Basle, Switzerland.

Leading the two-time world champions thanks to a goal from Ivan Klasnic after just three minutes, Croatia quickly found themselves on the back foot following fourth and sixth-minute strikes from Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi.

Barcelona teenager Messi's first goal for Argentina was to prove irrelevant, however, as Croatia turned things around in the second half with two headers from Darijo Simic.

The AC Milan defender already seemed to have earned his team an impressive draw after slotting in a great cross from Dado Prso in the 52nd minute, but then added the winner in injury-time - this time nodding home from a corner.

Russia v Brazil: Ronaldo's fortuitous first-half goal was enough to secure Brazil a 1-0 victory over Russia.

A shot from Brazil captain Roberto Carlos struck his Real Madrid team-mate and surprised goalkeeper Igor Akinfeyev, who protested the ball had been diverted in by Ronaldo's arm after 15 minutes.

Brazil dominated the remainder of the half in bitterly cold conditions but were kept out by Akinfeyev.

The hosts almost levelled on the stroke of half-time when a powerful shot from Alexander Kerzhakov struck the post.

Russia pinned Brazil back after the break but were let down by poor finishing.
