LEINSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP: St Andrew's College had to withstand a brave second-half comeback from St Gerard's before sealing victory at Stradbrook.
St Andrew's could not have wished for a better start, as scrumhalf Luke Halpin broke unchallenged from midfield for the opening score with less than two minutes on the clock. Halpin converted and also kicked a penalty on 22 minutes while Matthew Mawhinney added another try just before half-time.
St Gerard's fought back and Cailbhe Doherty kicked a penalty. When Mark Tyrell went over for a try with more than 20 minutes still to go it looked like a fantastic comeback was on the cards. However St Andrew's held firm to go through.
