St Colman's, Fermoy 4-14; St Joseph's, Borrisoleigh 1-4: Outstanding performances from corner forwards Alan O'Connor and Padraig Lynch helped steer St Colman's, Fermoy, to victory in the Dr Harty Cup quarter-final at New Inn yesterday.
A goal in each half from the sharpshooters along with a flurry of points made them the heroes as an impressive St Colman's comprehensively swept aside the St Joseph's, Borrisoleigh challenge.
Leading by 2-8 to 1-4 at the interval having played into the breeze, St Colman's were not going to be caught with O'Connor's and Lynch's goals helping to give them a decided advantage.
The deadly duo struck goals again in the second half and St Joseph's were disappointed that they failed to score in the final 30 minutes - their goal came from Ciarán Cowan in the 26th minute of the game.
Apart from Alan O'Connor and Padraig Lynch who were head and shoulders above the rest, Padraig Cotter, Paul Hoye, Mark O'Connor and Kevin Dineen were impressive for St Colman's while St Joseph's best were Brendan Maher, Edward Costelloe, Jody Harkins and Aidan Dwyer.
