Colleges football Leinster SFC A: The draw for the last 16 of the Leinster Colleges Football Championship was completed as a result of the remaining back-door games played throughout the province yesterday.
The tie of the round sets up champions St Mel's College against St Declan's of Cabra, who overwhelmed Drimnagh Castle 8-20 to 1-6 at DCU grounds.
Declan's soon got into their stride and had the game wrapped up by half-time with James Brogan, Paudi Kelly and Liam Fleming dominating up front. At the break it was 5-11 to 1-4.
In a tight contest down in Wexford, St Peter's defeated St Benildus by 0-8 to 0-3.
St Peter's managed to open up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead at the interval, and with wing forwards Tom O'Sullivan and Tom Barron adding points after the break, St Peter's eventually pulled away, despite the best efforts of Benildus trio Chris Fennell, Keith Nolan and Declan O'Dwyer.
Moate, meanwhile, overcame Scoil Mhuire, Clane, with Fergal Daly's seven points - five from frees - seeing them lead by double scores, 0-10 to 0-5, at the break.
Scoil Mhuire could only add one point after the break with Moate full back Johnny Buckley having an outstanding game.
The other game played yesterday saw Dundalk Colleges overcome Brian Talty's St David's side by 3-13 to 0-3.
