The overwhelming favourites for the Connacht Colleges Senior A Football championship duly advanced at the quarter-final stage on Saturday.
A goal in the first half by St Jarlath's midfielder Tomas Griffin proved the decisive score, while St Pat's were left to rue a late miss when sub Noel Fahy was just wide with a goal effort from a very favourable position. Emmet Killeen proved a prolific marksman for the losers, hitting six points.
