COLLEGES' GAA CONNACHT SFC SEMI-FINAL/St Jarlath's, Tuam 1-11 Roscommon CBS 1-9:ST JARLATH'S College, the most prolific winners of the Hogan Cup but who have not won it since 2002, came good in the second half at Ballyhaunis yesterday to qualify for the decider.
The Tuam nursery, who have won the All-Ireland title 12 times, held Roscommon CBS scoreless in the second half yesterday and, with corner forward Shane Walsh in good shooting form, came from six points adrift to claim victory.
Roscommon CBS, who were bidding to reach their first provincial final since 1998, failed to score in the second half when they struggled in the crossfield wind.
They were on top in the opening half and led, 1-9 to 0-6, with Enda Lannon’s fisted goal after 14 minutes and six consecutive points before the break giving them the edge.
St Jarlath’s coped better with the stiff wind after the restart and after Walsh got the first of three second-half points, were in control.
Seán Glynn rounded off a terrific move involving Mike McWalters and Seán Silke to find the net in the 41st minute and they never looked back after that.
