DOMINANT in all sectors of the field, a well-drilled St Joseph's, Rochfortbridge side encountered little difficulty in overcoming Dublin's St Benildus College in this Leinster Colleges A Senior football championship clash yesterday.
Home advantage certainly helped and the Luke Dempsey-trained side led by three points after 10 minutes thanks to Jamie Wilson, Conor Jordan and David Glennon.
Benildus had to wait until the 18th minute before registering a point through Garret Fox and only managed one further point before the break as St Joseph's built up a 0-6 to 0-2 advantage.
St Benildus upped the momentum in the second half but couldn't match the effort with scores. St Joseph's could even afford the luxury of a missed penalty when Conor Jordan's well-struck effort was pushed over the bar by goalkeeper Keith Butler.
St Joseph's will next meet Franciscan College Gormanston.
