Schools Rugby Munster Senior Cup: St Munchins - 13 Crescent College - 0 Two well taken second-half tries by hooker Gerald Slattery saw St Munchin's into the final of the Munster Schools Senior Cup at the expense of their Limerick rivals Crescent at Thomond Park last night.

It was the first time a schools game had taken place under lights and it proved a great attraction, with a fine crowd turning up to enjoy a full-blooded encounter between two keen rivals.

St Munchin's held a decisive edge up front and would have won by a wider margin were it not for poor kicking by their normally reliable outhalf Wayne Murphy.

Murphy did find the target on the half hour to send St Munchin's in at the interval leading by 3-0; but he also failed to take advantage of some gilt-edged opportunities on either side of the half-time whistle.
