Dundalk 0 St Patrick's A 2:ST PATRICKS ATHLETIC made it two wins from their opening two Airtricity League games thanks to a comfortable victory over Dundalk at Oriel Park last night.

The result maintains St Patrick’s incredible run against the Louth club. The Saints’ last league defeat in Oriel Park was a 2-0 loss in November 1998, a side ironically then managed by current St Patrick’s boss Liam Buckley.

After bossing possession in the early stages, St Patrick’s hit the front in the ninth minute. Greg Bolger’s cross-field pass caught the Dundalk back four badly napping and Stephen O’Flynn was left unmarked to fire Dean Kellys knock down home from 10-yards.

Just as it looked like Dundalk were establishing a foothold in the game, St Patrick’s struck the killer blow.

Bolger was again the creator, his pass falling kindly into the path of John Russell and the former Sligo Rovers midfielder made no mistake.
