A galaxy of famous motor racing personalities will take part in Monday's unique Stormont Sprint, the climax of the Belfast City Open/Direct Motorsport Festival.

In action will be the legendary Stirling Moss and multi-motorcycle World Champion Giacomo Agostini, also current Formula One drivers Eddie Irvine and Jarno Trulli, and Irish drivers who raced in Formula One - John Watson, Derek Daly, David Kennedy, Kenny Acheson, Martin Donnelly, Tommy Byrne and Damien Magee.

Amongst the many famous historic racing and sports cars will be a BRM V16, plus modern supercars and racing machinery, and static displays of rare cars and motorcycles, including the oldest Rolls Royce in existence. The Ulster Cancer Foundation is the official charity for the event.

The festival gets under way with tomorrow's race meeting at Kirkistown. On Sunday, top Northern Ireland autotest drivers compete in tandem tests in front of Belfast's Waterfront Hall.

Austin McHale, Eamonn Boland, Niall Maguire, Michael Barrable, Daniel Doherty, Peadar Hurson, Tommy Graham, David Armstrong, Derek Smith and Tim McNulty are the listed top-10 seeds for the weekend's Dunlop Rally Ireland.

Run by the ALMC, the event is based in the Plaza Hotel, Tallaght. Tomorrow's stages will mostly be in Co Wicklow in the Keadeen Mountain-Stratford-Dunlavin area.

After a spectator stage in The Square, Tallaght on Sunday morning, the rally will head towards Stradbally and Portlaoise, with stages at Dunamace and Wolfhill, returning to Tallaght for a later finish from approximately 7 p.m..

Donegal driver Damien Faulkner goes into the final six races of the Formula Audi European championship with a two-point lead over British driver Justin Keen, 208 to 206 points.

Faulkner has two races at Outlton Park on Monday, followed by double races at Brands Hatch on September 10th and Magny Cours in France on October 1st.
