UCD survived a late rally by Crumlin to book their place in next month's decider following this two-point victory at Parnell Park yesterday.
The students began explosively with corner forward Pat Fitzgerald finding the net after just 90 seconds. He continued to be a thorn in Crumlin's side and, midway through the second-half, they led 1-12 to 08.
But Ger Mullins, who kept Crumlin in the game with a personal tally of 1-10, then got his team back into contention when his 65 slipped out the keeper's grasp and into the net. Crumlin eventually reduced the deficit to a point but Alan Barry's fine point was to prove decisive for UCD.
