Louth 2-15 Athlone IT 0-4:LOUTH were much too strong for outclassed Athlone IT in a one-sided clash in Drogheda.
The hosts opened their account with a Páraic Smith goal in the eighth minute and added four more before the students got off the mark two minutes before the break.
Louth led 1-5 to 0-2 at the interval and Athlone were reeling after 38 minutes as substitute Adrian Reid applied the finishing touch to a flowing home move.
The strike was sandwiched by points from Derek Crilly and Shane Lennon and it was plain-sailing for Louth thereafter.
