She may well have missed out on the double of Lady Captain's and President's Prizes, but it still proved a hugely successful season for Mary Kyne, as she deservedly collected the Golfer of the Year honour at Dungarvan.
All told it has been a tremendous season for Mary. The highlight of the last few months was her victory in Finola Kelly's Lady Captain's Prize. In that event she recorded a superb two-day total of 137 nett to see off the challenge of the rest of the field.
However, despite just failing to secure the double, Mary still proved a hugely popular and deserving winner of the Millennium Golfer of the Year. So good had her season been that she started the year playing off 15, only to end it playing off 10.
