Charlie Swan made his last ride over fences a winning one when successfully partnering the Tony Martin-trained Any Port in the Rossbracken Handicap Chase at a poorly attended Dundalk yesterday afternoon.

The Tipperary rider, champion National Hunt jockey for the last nine seasons, produced the Strong Gale mare to head Ray Lord after two out, and quicken clear to score by nine lengths.

John Murtagh looks set to land his third flat championship in four years, and the Meathman moved onto the 71 winner mark for the campaign - 24 clear of Mick Kinane - when completing a double on Lucky Player and Khaliandak.

Lucky Player provided Ger Lyons with his first juvenile winner of the season when leading two furlongs out to beat Steel Dendrobium by one and a half lengths in the Mullacrew Claiming Race, where there were a number of hard luck stories in what proved a rough race.
