Dublin; 1-15 Meath 0-9: After last year's league defeat to Meath, Dublin managed to set the record straight when they triumphed over their Royal County hosts in Navan despite having midfielder Conal Keaney sent off in the opening period.
Last term's defeat came in what was Dublin manager Kevin Fennelly's first National Hurling League match at the helm and following last Monday's win over Waterford, he is entitled to feel that his side is making some kind of progress.
In contrast, his opposite number, Michael Duignan, has witnessed his charges go down quite comprehensively in all four of their matches in the current campaign and this latest set-back is hardly going to boost his charges' morale.
The red carded Keaney still managed to score three points during his 23 minutes on the field, which eventually helped his side to go in with a 0-7 to 0-5 advantage at the interval.
While Meath would have been fancied to overrun their numerically inferior opponents on the resumption, they instead found themselves even further in arrears within nine minutes of the restart when David Curtin sent over four successive points from frees.
Curtin also had a hand in the only goal scored in the match, passing to Shane Martin, who rifled home from close range after 60 minutes.
