The final of the ITF Futures was decided amid a barrage of errors on Saturday, with both combatants losing interest after bad weather forced the last set of the Riverview event to be played indoors.

The number two seed, Julian Knowle from Austria, eventually mastered 20-year-old Italian Daniele Bracciali after both players agreed that tournament referee Steve Mehigan had no other option but to move the match indoors. Both had to be in London yesterday to sign on for Wimbledon qualifiers at Roehampton.

The match suffered as a result, with the pair, both heavy servers, sharing no less than 11 breaks.

"It was a bad match. I couldn't find any rhythm in my serve," said Knowle. Bracciali, whose service game had pounded Ireland's Owen Casey into submission in Friday's semi-finals, was broken at the outset of each of the three sets. He clearly let the promoters know what he thought of the switch indoors by throwing tantrums. He smashed strings in three racquets and continually bashed his shoes with his racquet in apparent frustration.

Knowle's service game hit rock bottom in the second set. He served seven consecutive double faults and claimed afterwards: "I never felt in control of the match."

His ground shots, double fisted from a squat position, were used to great effect.

Most rallies started on Bracciali's weak second serve. He was broken in the first, fifth and seventh games of the final set.
