Jimmy Barry Murphy has chosen 14 of his All-Ireland winning side to take on Kerry in Saturday evening's Munster hurling championship opener in Killarney. In the only change from the team that beat Kilkenny last September, Pat Ryan comes in at midfield to partner Mickey O'Connell. Mark Landers, last year's captain, loses out and is named among the substitutes. Landers has been carrying a slight hamstring problem.

Kerry have named six debutants in the team to play Cork. Greg Fealy, Michael Lucid, Aidan Cronin, Michael Hanafin, Sean Fitzgerald and John Maher all come in for the Munster first round hurling match with the winners to face Limerick eight days later.

Manager Michael O'Grady has made just a couple of minor alterations in the team to face Laois in Sunday's Leinster hurling roundrobin decider. Liam Walsh comes into the half-back line and in an indirect switch, David Sweeney takes over from Mick Fitzsimons at midfield. Among the forwards, Shane Martin regains his place ahead of Gordon Glynn.

Offaly SF

Ciaran McManus's absence from the Offaly team to face Meath on June 4th was confirmed yesterday when the county announced that he had been suspended for two months after receiving a red card playing for his club Tubber the Sunday before last. The usual suspension of one month was doubled as he had committed a similar offence in the league with Offaly before Christmas. John Ryan will know the results of a scan later today, but even it clears him to play later on in the season, he certainly won't be available for the Meath match.

Antrim SF

Two championship debutants feature in the team to face Down in Sunday's Ulster championship quarter-final at Casement Park. Con Coleman, an import from Galway, will start at centre forward, while Adrian Morris, formally of Tyrone, takes the centre back slot.

Manager Pete McGrath has delayed the announcement of his team until after training tomorrow evening. Last night, there were still concerns over the state of full back Ciaran Byrne's leg muscle injury, as well as a number of other niggling injuries.
