Teeton Mill will face a maximum of six rivals if he runs in the Mitsubishi Shogun Ascot Chase at the Berkshire track on Saturday.
Trainer Venetia Williams left the Hennessy and King George winner in the field at the five-day acceptance stage and will decide later in the week whether or not her charge will take part in the two mile, four furlong event won last year by the ill-fated One Man.
Another trainer considering his options is Howard Johnson who will decide later in the week whether or not Teeton Mill's market rival Direct Route takes his chance in the Ascot feature.
The County Durham trainer, who is aiming his charge at next month's Queen Mother Two Mile Champion Chase, said yesterday: "I don't know if Direct Route will turn out or not. I want to see how mine run at Sedgefield tomorrow first.
"I've been having seconditis, all right I had a winner on Saturday, but I don't want to go all that way down south just to finish second.
