The remaining quarter-final in the Leinster Schools' Junior Cup saw Terenure College ease into the last four despite a valiant second half effort by their opponents.
Terenure defended their lead well while up front, wing forward Conor O'Hagan proved very effective. High School paid the price for not getting in enough first and second-phase tackles but were always going to have their hands full against a very effective Terenure back line.
That said, High School enjoyed an early lead when right winger Brian Kelly slotted over a penalty with his left foot from just outside the 22. But Terenure responded with playmaker and outhalf Conor Gildea presenting the ball to full back Gary Byrne, who eluded a challenge to slip in under the posts.
Number eight Karl Douglas then charged through for Terenure's second score on 11 minutes before Kelly reduced the arrears with his second kick midway through the half.
Terenure had the chance for a score on the right but a misjudged pass just failed to find Adam Hughes. But High School had strayed offside, allowing Gildea to slot the penalty and High School were dealt another blow just before the break when Byrne drew a player before releasing Hughes with a perfectly-timed pass.
That left it 22-6 at the interval and four minutes after the break they extended their lead with Gildea converting his own try. High School then enjoyed a good spell with back row David Lee going over for a pushover try, with captain Mattew D'Arcy converting. Terenure absorbed some more pressure but in the final action of the game Enda Farrell set up Byrne for his second try.
