"This hole is often crucial to a card or in matchplay terms I always look to this hole when playing that format. I suppose that it is the timing of it in terms of the round as well.

"You need to hit a very good drive because there is plenty of trouble on the right. I think it's fair to say that you seldom get lucky at this hole.

"You need to be very precise. It's a dogleg so that places an even greater premium on accuracy, otherwise you can find yourself blocked out in trying to make the green in regulation.

"You must carry the water hazard on the second shot to a saucer-like green. It's receptive, but that can depend on what you're hitting in.

"Depending on the prevailing wind and what tee you're playing off, a player can be hitting anything from a six iron to a nine iron. Hit it to the wrong part of the green and a two putt can seem like a birdie.

"I suppose the reason that it appeals to me is the challenge that the hole presents.

"I just find it an interesting hole that demands a great deal from the golfer and it hasn't lost its appeal no matter how many times I have played it."
