Meet the Kerry players

1 Diarmuid Murphy

Club: Dingle.

Age: 31.

Height: 6ft 3in.

Weight: 14st 7lb.

Occupation: Insurance clerical officer.

Has maintained high standards as a shot-stopper, particularly one-on-one where his big physique stands up well. Major problem has been difficulty finding men from the kick-out or varying the delivery short or to wings.

2 Marc Ó Sé

Club: An Ghaeltacht.

Age: 26.

Height: 6ft.

Weight: 12st.

Occupation: Teacher.

His best year to date and the team's best defender, he has been consistent and comfortable in possession. Probably prefers playing wing back where he can maximise his ball-playing ability. Can be loose, as Donncha O'Connor showed in the Munster final.

3 Michael McCarthy

Club: Kilcummin.

Age: 28.

Height: 6ft.

Weight: 14st.

Occupation: Draftsman.

Not one of his best years, although he seems to be recovering at the right time. Has what it takes for the position - pace and ball skills - but is inclined to go forward at times and play one-twos, something Tyrone exploited last year.

4 Tom O'Sullivan

Club: Rathmore.

Age: 27.

Height: 6ft 2in.

Weight: 13st.

Occupation: Garda.

Can do outstanding man- marking jobs if focused, but there are times when he ball-watches. Lightning fast and a reliable defender, but sometimes wanders and was caught out by Steven McDonnell in the quarter-final. This is his best year.

5 Tomás Ó Sé

Club: An Ghaeltacht.

Age: 27.

Height: 5ft 11in.

Weight: 12st 5lbs.

Occupation: Teacher.

Since he arrived back in Croke Park, his best form is re-emerging. Main asset is attacking from deep and he is inspirational when driving forward, but could improve defensively. Due to his attacking instincts, a cute forward can give him the slip.

6 Séamus Moynihan

Club: Glenflesk.

Age: 32.

Height: 5ft 11in.

Weight: 13st.

Occupation: Company representative.

Outstanding qualities have returned. Constantly alert, he provides cover for full back line. Dilemma will be whether to get tight on Brady or hold the centre. Mentally strong, he'll have been hurt by last year. Expect his best.

7 Aidan O'Mahony

Club: Rathmore.

Age: 25.

Height: 5ft 11in.

Weight: 13st.

Occupation: Garda.

Has improved enormously over past two years. Reliable and unselfish, he's a tight marker and conscious of defensive duties. Ideal man to mark McDonald.

8 Darragh Ó Sé

Club: An Ghaeltacht.

Age: 30.

Height: 6ft.

Weight: 14st.

Occupation: Auctioneer.

Best year of his career, he has been dominating matches. The general awareness of his play has improved and all aspects of his game - ball-winning, setting up attacks and defensive cover - are in harmony. The outstanding midfielder in the country.

9 Tommy Griffin

Club: Dingle.

Age: 28.

Height: 6ft 2in.

Weight: 13st.

Occupation: Publican.

Midfield has to function as a unit and his industry has complemented Darragh Ó Sé. Fully aware of tracking back and would have been unfortunate to lose place.

10 Seán O'Sullivan

Club: Cromane.

Age: 26.

Height: 6ft 1in.

Weight: 12st.

Occupation: Bank official.

Athletic ability to play the width of Croke Park and open up the space. Fast and skilful, he kicks off either foot and will score in the right position. Has vision to select right ball for Donaghy. Classic wing forward.

11 Declan O'Sullivan

Club: Dromid Pearses. (captain).

Age: 22.

Height: 6ft.

Weight: 12st.

Occupation: Merchandiser.

An outstanding footballer, Declan's Achilles heel has been a tendency to over-carry. That's the way he plays with his club where he feels he has to do everything himself. Recently he's adapted to releasing the ball faster.

12 Paul Galvin

Club: Finuge.

Age: 26.

Height: 6ft.

Weight: 12st.

Occupation: Teacher.

Main strength is ability on breaking ball. He's fearless at getting into the right position and reads the play very well. Uses the ball quickly and has phenomenal work-rate. Discipline a potential liability given how easily he gets distracted into side-issues.

13 Colm Cooper

Club: Dr Crokes.

Age: 23.

Height: 5ft 11in.

Weight: 10st.

Occupation: Bank official.

Although he improved against Cork and has an excellent temperament, the dizzy heights of last year remain distant. Donaghy has removed some of the pressure, but Cooper remains the most skilful Kerry forward and skill is innate.

14 Kieran Donaghy

Club: Austin Stacks.

Age: 23.

Height: 6ft 5in.

Weight: 15st.

Occupation: Manager Q Sports, Tralee.

Has turned into a brilliant target man and changed the dynamic of the forward line. Basketball has given him aerial ability and excellent vision. Unselfish, but still able to take on a defender himself and has great temperament and patience to wait for the right ball.

15 Michael F Russell

Club: Laune Rangers.

Age: 28.

Height: 5ft 11in.

Weight: 11st 7lbs.

Occupation: Teacher.

He likes Croke Park and the open spaces it affords corner forwards. Russell should profit from Donaghy's presence on the edge of the square and if he gets space and time, the Laune Rangers player's scoring ability off either foot is a major threat.
