Jim McGuinness column
Today Jim McGuinness writes his final column of the GAA season, and he has used it as an opportunity to bring to light an issue which is yet to be resolved from his time as manager of Donegal.
He pays tribute to the sacrifice of county players across the country, and talks of footballers who opted against emigrating or would have to make six-hour round trips multiple times a week just so they could train with their side.
However, he writes that despite this level of commitment, seven of last year’s Donegal squad who couldn’t attend the team holiday, himself included, have received no voucher reflective of the trip’s worth from the county board – despite Croke Park confirming their entitlement to it.
McGuinness says he has had to keep quiet on the matter for 10 months as he didn’t want to disrupt the current side’s preparations, but with the matter still unresolved now he has no choice but to speak up.
