City sneak Leage Cup

Manchester City have collected the first major honours of the season after they beat Liverpool on penalties in the League Cup final yesterday.

City’s back-up goalkeeper Willy Caballero was the unlikely hero as he saved three consecutive spot-kicks to give Yaya Toure the chance to seal victory at Wembley.

Meanwhile Marcus Rashford's dream week continued as Manchester United delivered a crushing blow to Arsenal's title hopes, winning 3-2 at Old Trafford.

18-year-old Rashford, who scored twice on debut last week, was on target twice again before turning provider for Ander Herrera to seal an entertaining win. Elsewhere, Spurs kept up the pressure at the top, coming from behind to beat Swansea City 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Donegal edge winless Mayo

Donegal sit on top of the Allianz Football League Division One after they edged winless Mayo 1-14 to 1-12 in Ballybofey.

Elsewhere Roscommon trounced Cork 4-25 to 3-10 and Kerry hammered Down 0-22 to 0-6. In Division Two, Galway saw off Derry 1-18 to 2-12, Tyrone beat Laois 1-14 to 0-14 and Cavan got past Meath 1-20 to 1-13.

Leinster a point off the top

Leinstersit a point behind Connacht at the top of the Pro 12 table after they picked up a bonus point win over Zebre yesterday. Munster also edged out Italian opposition, seeing off Treviso 16-13, while Ulster were beaten 23-16 by Cardiff Blues.

Scott wins Honda Classic

Adam Scott has his first victory on the PGA Tour in two years after he finished a stroke clear of Sergio Garcia in the Honda Classic. Graeme McDowell carded a final round of 69 to earn himself a fifth place finish in Florida, while Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry finished tied for 43rd and tied 53rd respectively.
