Dean Delaney (gk). Everton. Born: 1/9/80 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Crumlin Utd, Cherry Orchard. Youth caps: Three. Squad number: 16. Played with Cherry Orchard before moving to Everton where he was an FA Youths Cup medal winner last season. The only player in the panel not to get a run-out so far.

Alex O' Reilly (gk). West Ham. Born: 5/9/79 in London. Schoolboy club: West Ham. Youth caps: Six. Squad number: 1. Having come here with three clean sheets in three games for Ireland at this level, O'Reilly made a shaky start to the week in the game against Croatia. Has done well since, however, and is likely to keep Delaney on the bench for tomorrow's final.

Thomas Heary (def). Huddersfield. Born: 14/2/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: St Martin's Boys, Sheriff YC. Youth caps: 19. Squad number: 2. Has plenty of experience at this level, having played in last year's championships in Iceland. Commanding player with pace and good tackling ability. Started career as a striker, prefers to play in midfield but continues to shine at the back.

Richard Dunne (def). Everton. Born: 21/9/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy club: Home Farm. Youth caps: 14. Squad number: 4. One of the most experienced players in the squad, Dunne started poorly against the Croats but was better against the English and superb in the game against Cyprus. Good and strong in the air, he has very good positional sense and, as he proved against the hosts, is capable of causing problems in attack, too.

Keith Doyle (def). St Patrick's Athletic. Born: 20/7/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Swords Celtic, Belvedere Boys. Youth caps: 10. Squad number: 3. The only one of the panel to be based in Ireland, Doyle is another player who has improved as the week has progressed. A good runner and crosser of the ball, he has grown in confidence and almost scored from 30 yards in the final group game.

Gary Doherty (def/for). Luton Town. Born: 31/1/80 in Donegal. Schoolboy club: Luton Town. Youth caps: 11. Squad number: 5. An outstanding prospect who has edged his way into the first-team picture at club level over the past season and can play either at the back or up front. Has not enjoyed the best of tournaments here, though, and is likely to come into the final at some point from the bench.

Jason Gavin (def). Middlesbrough. Born: 14/3/80 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Jobstown Celtic, Crumlin Utd. Youth caps: Six. Squad number: 6. Came on in the game against England and did exceptionally well. Well enough, in fact, after another good performance against Cyprus on Thursday to keep his place for the final. Combines well with Dunne who is physically stronger but not nearly such a neat footballer.

Ger Crossley (mid). Celtic. Born 5/2/80 in Belfast. Schoolboy club: Celtic Boys (Belfast). Youth caps: Seven. Squad number: 8. One of the stars of the show here so far, Crossley's tireless running, terrier-like defensive work and wonderful vision going forward have earned him comparisons with Roy Keane. Has been centrally involved in four of the eight goals scored this week.

Barry Quinn (mid). Coventry City. Born: 9/5/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy club: Manortown Utd. Youth caps: 24. Squad number: 9. As expected, the captain has played a leading role in the team's success with a series of fine all-round displays. Got one of the goals against Cyprus but his overall contribution in all three games has been outstanding. Combines a strong physical presence with delicate passing skills.

Alan Quinn (mid). Sheffield Wednesday. Born: 13/6/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Lourdes Celtic, Manortown Utd. Youth caps: Eight. Squad number: 12. Could well start tomorrow after helping to give the side more movement against England when he came on the second half and turning in a good second-period display against the hosts. Small and quick, Quinn is an attacking midfielder who looks to get involved everywhere . Capable of scoring some wonderful goals.

Ronnie O'Brien (mid/for). Middlesbrough. Born: 5/1/79 in Bray. Schoolboy clubs: Wolfe Tones (Bray), Wayside Celtic, St Joseph's Boys. Youth caps: 13. Squad number: 11. One of the most technically gifted players in the panel, O'Brien is generally used as a wide attacking midfielder by Brian Kerr. Has done well in his two appearances here and may just win out over Richie Partridge for place in tomorrow's team.

Liam George (for). Luton Town. Born: 2/2/79 in south of England. Schoolboy club: Luton Town. Youth caps: 12. Squad number: 15. Quick and tricky striker who has shown himself to be an ideal partner up front for Robbie Keane. Started and finished the group stages well but struggled to cope against the English whose fullbacks proved capable of thwarting his attempts to get behind them.

Richard Partridge (for). Liverpool. Born: 12/9/80 in Dublin. Schoolboy club: Stella Maris. Youth caps: Eight. Squad number: 17. Outstanding prospect who won junior player of the year at Anfield last season and has lived up to reputation this week. Did find the going difficult in the game against England with his pace not quite making up for his lightweight physique but capable of turning defences inside out and either scoring or setting up goals for others.

Robbie Keane (for). Wolves. Born: 8/7/80 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Fettercairn Utd, Crumlin Utd. Youth caps: Six. Squad number: 10. A lot was expected of the Wolves striker before this trip and he has not disappointed. Was instrumental in the demolition of Croatia and scored a spectacular volley, one of three goals this week, in Thursday's defeat of Cyprus. Doesn't do the donkey work that George does but when he has the ball he is very dangerous indeed.

Ryan Casey (mid). Swansea City. Born: 3/1/79 in Galway. Schoolboy clubs: Newcastle Utd (Galway), Galway Hibernians, Belvedere Boys. Youth caps: Five. Squad number: 14. Highly versatile left-sided player who can play anywhere from full-back to striker and whose one appearance this week was as a substitute in the game against Croatia. Plenty of first-team experience at club level, Casey has a good touch and is clever on the ball. May come into the action during the second half tomorrow.

Paul Donnolly (def/mid). Leeds United. Born: 31/8/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Tolka Rovers, Home Farm. Youth caps: Three. Squad number: 13. Another one who can fulfil a number of roles, notably in the middle of the defence or centre of midfield, but Donnolly has been a little unlucky with injury problems over the past season. Has made only a fleeting appearance in the game against Cyprus and may have to be content with sitting out the final, too.

Stephen McPhail (mid). Leeds United. Born: 9/12/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Rush, Home Farm. Youth caps: 15. Squad number: 7. Described by his former manager at Leeds as the new Liam Brady, McPhail has not shown his best here this week and, clearly tired during the England game, he was rested for the third group game. At his best, though, he is an outstanding passer of the ball and, presuming the rest pays off, he should figure in some way tomorrow.

David Freeman (for). Nottingham Forest. Born: 25/11/79 in Dublin. Schoolboy clubs: Lourdes Celtic, Cherry Orchard. Youth caps: Eight. Squad number: 18. Lively striker who is unlucky to be behind Keane for a place in the team. Runs hard and chases down everything around the box where he always poses a threat. Having come off the bench twice this week, he may well do so again tomorrow.
