There was a McCarthy takeover at Harbour Point last week, but amazingly the three McCarthys that finished in each of the three top prizes in the Australian Spoons foursomes event weren't related. Deirdre McCarthy (19) won the competition in partnership with 11 handicapper Eileen O'Connor shooting 37 points to have a four-point victory over Nora McCarthy (16) and Marie Collins (17), with the third McCarthy, Monica (8) teaming up with Marian Dunlea (17) claiming third spot on 33 points.

St Helen's Bay golf club, Rosslare and four of the South East's finest restaurants have combined to stage the Festival of Food and Golf from June 11th to 14th. The four-day festival is open to men and women with a singles stableford competition each day.
