Golf:Brandt Snedeker hit a stunning hole-in-one to challenge Bubba Watson at the top of the leaderboard early on the second day of the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
A late bogey on the penultimate hole meant Snedeker had to settle for a round of 64, level with Watson on the day but leaving him at nine under, one shot behind.
Snedeker got off to a flying start as he attacked the back nine first on the second morning, recording consecutive birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th greens before he aced the 161-yard par three 16th.
Perhaps still feeling the buzz of the previous hole, Snedeker bogeyed the par-four 17th as he three-putted, but he recovered with an eagle on the 18th.
A further birdie on the fourth brought him level with Watson, who had shaken off an early bogey in his round with a run of four birdies over six holes before a stunning eagle on the par-five seventh moved him to seven under par for the round, and 10 under for the tournament. He had also eagled the seventh yesterday.
Masters champion Charl Schwartzel joined Watson on 10 under after a 66, while late in the day USPGA winner Adam Scott blitzed the course with an eight-under 63 to make it a three-way tie on top.
Graeme McDowell was four under for his round and the tournament with two holes to play in his round, while Pádraig Harrington could only manage a two-over 73 that left him one shot inside the cut on level par.
