Mayakoba Classic:Fred Funk, Cameron Beckman and Boo Weekley share a three-way tie for the lead after the second round of the $3.5 million Mayakoba Classic in Mexico.
Funk, starting the day leading the field on eight-under par after a sizzling first-round 62, carded a 69 on Friday for a two-day total of 131.
Beckman and Weekley both shot 67 to draw level with the 50-year-old on nine under at the halfway mark.
After playing bogey-free golf in the first round, Funk recorded three birdies and two bogeys to keep alive his chances of becoming only the second player to win a PGA Tour event after capturing a Champions Tour title. Funk was victorious in the Turtle Bay Championship in January.
Beckman, whose only career success came at the 2001 Southern Farm Bureau, sunk three birdies in a second bogey-free round.
It proved a timely boost for the 36-year-old who has struggled this year, his 22nd-place finish last week at the Nissan Open his best result of the season to date.
Weekley, who has missed three of four cuts since a 20th-place finish at the Sony Open in the opening week of the season, had an interesting day in posting six birdies and three bogeys in a round of three under.
Bill Haas (66), Jose Coceres (65) and Brian Gay (67) are all one shot back, while Peter Lonard (68), John Merrick (69) and Ryan Amour (65) are two shots off the pace.
Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell slipped to a tie for 36th after shooting a level-par 70 to stay on three under but Greg Owen is heading home after missing the cut.
A bogey on the last hole of an eventful round meant the Englishman shot a 71 to go with Thursday's 70 and finish one over, one shot outside the cut-off point
