Despite an 8.0am inspection planned today, the Tipperary authorities are "more than hopeful" about racing going ahead this evening.

A half inch of rain had fallen on the track by yesterday evening and the course manager Peter Roe reported: "I would say we have more than an 85 per cent chance of going ahead. I'm more than hopeful."

The flat races have already been abandoned at Tipperary because of the recent wet spell of weather and two hurdle races have been divided to make up a six-race card. The track was raceable yesterday.

An inspection will take place at 8.0 this morning in Cork to see if tomorrow's scheduled card can go ahead. However, prospects of a green light appear to be slim.
