Derry ... 5-13 Tipperary ... 1-3: Derry had 22 points to spare over an outclassed Tipperary side in this All Ireland minor football championship quarter-final at Navan on Saturday. But Tipperary did rock the Ulster champions with an eighth-minute goal from Michael Dillon, which boosted them to a 1-2 to 0-2 lead.
However, once Derry found their form they powered clear and Tipperary had no answer to their slick team-work and accuracy.
A James Bateson goal after 15 minutes had Derry level and Paul Young added two more to give them a 3-8 to 1-2 interval lead.
Darragh Lyons opened the second-half scoring with a Tipperary point but they failed to score subsequently as further goals from Ruairí Convery and Mark Lynch copper-fastened Derry's grip on the match.
