TOMMY TOLLES and Mike Springer shot seven under 65s to share the first round lead at the £1.5 million Houston Open yesterday. Tolles, a second year pro, has already enjoyed an outstanding season with three top 10 finishes and more than 5470,000 in prize money.

Former US Open champion Lee Janzen, David Duval and Mark Brooks were tied for second, one stroke back at six under 66, while hometown favourite Jeff Maggert led a group of five golfers at five under 67 through the first 18 holes.
