Doonbeg v Moyle Rovers (Gaelic Grounds, 1.45)

Doonbeg v Moyle Rovers (Gaelic Grounds, 1.45)

Doonbeg's late act of deliverance was a major disappointment for Moyle Rovers in last week's AIB Munster final. Five points up with as many minutes left and Doonbeg down to 14 men, Moyle must return to the Gaelic Grounds tomorrow with nerves on edge over the fitness of experienced midfielder Jimmy Holmes who hurt his ankle in the drawn match.

Inevitably speculation surrounds how the Clare champions will deal with the threat of Declan Browne at corner forward. On a poor supply of ball and with frequently inadequate support, the new All Star still filched 12 from play and disposed of two markers over the afternoon.

Also important will be the reaction of Derry Foley to a below-par performance. He has admitted the need for improvement and his input will be important.

Doonbeg's experience, resolve and strength kept them going in the face of daunting adversity. Kieran O'Mahony got the line for a second bookable offence and misses tomorrow's replay - maintaining a trend for self-dwindling which has been apparent during their campaign.

If their shooting was just a bit less wayward, there would be good reason to go for Doonbeg. Moyle realised that bad as last week's draw was, it could have been worse.

The equalising goal came through a lack of concentration, allowing Declan Griffin to carve through the thronged midfield area to freedom on the other side and set up Francis McInerney. The occasion will have taught Moyle greater composure. Will it have taught Doonbeg straighter shooting?
