Aston Villa v Leeds United
Dion Dublin will ignore a troublesome groin problem to lead Villa's attack. Paul Merson and Gareth Southgate will return for John Gregory's side as they aim to bounce back from successive defeats at the hands of Newcastle and Blackburn. As David O'Leary continued contract negotiations with Leeds yesterday, he was also preparing to visit Villa Park without the injured Jonathan Woodgate.
Chelsea v Blackburn
Dennis Wise starts his latest ban. Jody Morris is likely to contunue in midfield. Blackburn must wait for last-minute checks on the fitness of Scottish trio Callum Davidson, Christian Dailly and Billy McKinlay. Jason Wilcox serves the second match of a three-match ban.
Everton v Middlesbrough
Everton manager Walter Smith finally signed Hearts defender David Weir for a bargain £200,000 fee yesterday. Weir will start on the bench. Middlesbrough are in the depths of an injury crisis. Brian Deane is likely to be out for up to a month with an ankle injury. Hamilton Ricard is struggling with a similar injury. Defenders Curtis Fleming, Gianluca Festa and Colin Cooper and midfielder Phil Stamp are also on the casualty list.
Man Utd v Arsenal (Sky Sports)
Dennis Bergkamp and Emmanuel Petit are suspended for Arsenal, while Martin Keown is sidelined through injury. Nigerian Nwankwo Kanu makes his Premiership debut, while Stephen Hughes looks set to deputise for Petit after Remi Garde damaged an ankle on Saturday. Denis Irwin (groin) is United's only doubt and Phil Neville is expected to replace him if he does not recover.
Newcastle v Coventry
Gary Speed, stretchered off during the Blackburn game on Sunday, has an outside chance of playing after tests revealed that what initially looked like a serious injury was in fact a minor knock. Nikos Dabizas is available after serving a two-match ban. For Coventry, Trond Soltvedt, Paul Telfer and new man Muhamed Konjic, the Bosnian centreback from Monaco, are in the frame.
