BASKETBALL:Michelle Fahy, who was announced as The Irish Times Sportswoman of the Month for January earlier this week, is back in action with her UL Huskies side this weekend as they play a mouth-watering top of the table clash against Munster rivals Team Montenotte Hotel Cork.

While Huskies, led by the MVP performance of Fahy, won the recent cup final between the sides, it was Montenotte who got the better of UL when the teams last met in the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague. The sides currently sit one and two in the table with just a single loss each. As such, tomorrow’s fixture in Glanmire will likely decide the number one seed for the playoffs, which start next month.

Elsewhere in the Nivea Women’s SuperLeague, DCU Mercy, who inflicted that single league loss on Montenotte, are in action in Dublin when the young and unpredictable Singleton SuperValu Brunell come to town.

In the Nivea For Men’s SuperLeague, the final Cork derby of the year takes place tonight (FRI) as Bord Gáis Neptune and UCC Demons square off at the Mardyke Arena. The winner can keep their hopes of catching UL Eagles at the top of the table alive.
