SENIORS TOUR:Sam Torrance held his nerve to produce a magnificent up-and-down on the final hole to secure a one stroke victory over José Rivero in the Bendinat London Seniors Masters at The London Golf Club, his second success in three editions of the tournament.

The former Ryder Cup captain reached the 54th hole with a two-stroke lead but after driving into the water and missing the green left with his third shot, a play-off looked on the cards.

However, Torrance produced a majestic pitch that travelled 30 yards across the 18th green and finished three inches short of the cup, before tapping in for a round of two under par 70 and a winning 54 hole aggregate of ten under par 206.

Eamonn Darcy rallied over the back nine with five consecutive birdies from the 11th but was unable to eke out another over the closing three holes, settling for a round of three under par 69 and a cheque for €13,864.
