CYCLING:TOUR OF Ireland organisers have confirmed the race will not take place in 2010, but that they hope it will return next year.
It was due to take place on August 18th-22nd, but a financial shortfall has put paid to that.
“Despite significant commercial and public sector funding, current economic conditions have meant that the additional investment required to make the event viable has not been forthcoming in time for this season,” the organisers said in a statement.
It is understood some of the sponsors were happy to continue this year, but that more backing was necessary.
The 2009 race was won by Britain’s Russell Downing.
