Good wins for the Commercial quadruple scull and the Trinity four were the highlights for Irish crews at Henley Royal Regatta yesterday.

The Commercial quad has already won silver and bronze medals in the two World Cup regattas this year, and yesterday they beat London Rowing Club by 41/2 lengths in the Queen Mother. Trinity's four led from the start to beat the Cambridge crew, LMBC and Jesus, by three lengths in the Visitors. Neptune's coxed four also won through to the semi-finals of the Britannia. However, the Trinity eight's odyssey in the Ladies Plate ended yesterday when they were beaten by the British lightweight crew by 3 1/4 lengths. And Commercial's eights also made their exit to Sydney Rowing Club in the Thames Cup. It was also a bad day for Commercial's Donal Hanrahan, who lost out in both the Diamond sculls - to the impressive Greg Searle - and in the double with Mark Kelly.
