TELEVISION COVERAGE:TV3 HAVE announced details of their 2008 championship coverage, which represents the first major departure from RTÉ's long-running domination.

Among their 10-game rights package is Dublin's opening game in the Leinster football championship against Louth, with the Leinster hurling final, the Connacht football final and the Ulster football final also all live over consecutive weekends in July.

TV3's three-year deal, which made them the first independent broadcaster to secure live GAA television rights, also includes the pick of the football qualifiers in all three rounds.

Their coverage begins on June 1st, from the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, as Clare take on Waterford in the first round of the Munster hurling championship.

That's followed by the Dublin-Louth clash, and then by back-to-back Leinster football semi-finals, on June 22nd and June 29th.

The station also announced the appointment of Motive Television/Asgard Media as their GAA production partners for all live match coverage. Motive Television/Asgard Media have extensive GAA television production experience including the popular GAA series, Breaking Ball.

"This package of 10 live matches are right at the heart of the season," said Pat Kiely, TV3's Commercial Director said. "We're delighted that TV3 will play such a big role as the 2008 championship unfolds. There is a great mix of action across all four provinces."
