Holders Tyrone made it to the All-Ireland Vocational Schools football final in an extra-time thriller at Navan. It wasn't until the second period of added time that they stamped their authority on the game, scoring 1-4 without reply, the goal scored by John Cummings.
The sides had been level 1-5 each at half-time and 1-12 to 2-9 at the end of normal time, with Tyrone's goal coming from Enda McGinley after 17 minutes, and Stephen Byrne and Denis Birchall the Wicklow goalscorers.
