Dr McKenna Cup Final/ Tyrone 2-9 Donegal 0-5: Tyrone lifted the Dr McKenna Cup for the fourth year in a row when brushing aside a wasteful Donegal in Healy Park, Omagh, on Saturday night.
Donegal had the majority of the possession in the opening half, but still turned over 0-4 to 0-2 in arrears. They hit eight wides and also saw six shots drop into the arms of Pascal McConnell in the Tyrone goal.
Tyrone made them pay dearly for their wayward shooting in the second half. Ten minutes into the half they brought on Stephen O'Neill and Owen Mulligan and a clinically finished goal from Colm McCullagh on 54 minutes put them on their way.
At that stage, they led by 1-7 to 0-5 and, with Donegal failing to score in the final 20, it became a stroll for the home side.
Tyrone made light of the loss of Kevin Hughes to a second yellow card, and their performance was embellished by an exquisite goal from Seán Cavanagh on the stroke of time.
Any signs of tension between the players and the county board over remarks by their chairman were not to be seen, although there could be sanction from the Ulster Council for the playing of two College men - Cathal McCarron and Damien McCaul.
