Reigning Ulster under-21 champions, Tyrone experienced little difficulty in retaining their title against Fermanagh in Clones on Saturday. Eoin Mulligan proved the star of the show, hitting a goal and seven points and also playing a major part in Fermanagh's demise with his organisational ability in the Tyrone attack. Tyrone led at half-time by 0-11 to 0-3 with Fermanagh's cause being dealt a severe blow when they missed a penalty in the 20th minute which would have brought them to within a point. Tyrone responded with four unanswered points in the final minutes of the first half. In the second half, Fermanagh's suffered a further blow when they were reduced to 14 men with the dismissal of Ryan McCloskey for a second yellow card and from there to the finish it was really only a matter of how much Tyrone would win by.
