UCC 1-12 NUI Galway 2-7UCC recovered from a disastrous start to progress to the quarter-finals at the Mardyke yesterday.
They conceded a goal inside two minutes and played the final 10 minutes with 14 men following the sending-off of Kieran Connery, on a straight red. UCC also coughed up a penalty to Micheál Meehan for his second goal before the break to give the visitors a 2-4 to 0-8 lead.
But the accuracy of Ronan Hussey and the industry of Fintan Gould helped UCC recover from these setbacks and keep their interests alive, while a 37th penalty from John Hayes, before he limped off, turned the game UCC's way.
