An Orla Curtin hat-trick helped Munster league runners-up UCC to a 4-1 win over Galway in Limerick on Saturday in the All-Ireland Club Championship preliminary game. The students, for whom Julie O'Sullivan completed the scoring, now face Ulster champions Pegasus in the quarter-finals next weekend.

Meanwhile at Garryduff, Pegasus II pipped Church of Ireland II and Hermes II to victory on goal difference at the Irish Junior League finals. Goals from Cathy Walsh and Joan Dobson gave Church of Ireland a 2-1 win over Pegasus on Saturday but they were then beaten by Hermes, by the same scoreline, later in the day.

Church of Ireland could have snatched the title if they had beaten Enniscorthy, in the final game of the tournament, by one more than their 4-0 winning margin but it wasn't to be and the Ulster side took the May Costley trophy.
