UCD 0-23 UL 0-12: Midfielder Bryan Barry, with a personal haul of nine points (seven from frees), led the charge for a physically stronger UCD as they overran a very disappointing UL in the second round of the Fitzgibbon Cup at UL yesterday.
With the wind behind them in the first half, the winners might have felt uncomfortable at the break when they held a slender 0-10 to 0-6 advantage, but Barry and a highly impressive David Hayes dominated the centre afterwards, leaving UL to fight a losing battle.
Andy Smith, Tom Fitzgerald and Brendan Murphy piled on the agony for the home side afterwards, and it was left to Offaly's Brian Carroll to try to keep them within reasonable distance from pointed frees.
The Babs Keating-coached UCD never relaxed their grip.
