UCD - 0 Bray Wanderers - 0:FAI Premier Division: UCD face a difficult final day assignment away to Cork City after Matt Gregg frustrated them with a string of excellent saves as College had to settle for a point when they know they dropped the additional two they needed to avoid any fears of the play-offs.
Already relegated Bray's problems were all too evident throughout a first half which was remarkable for the fact they went in for the interval without having conceded a goal. The fact they held out to record only their fourth clean sheet of the season was just as remarkable.
Bray had conceded 50 goals in their previous 25 matches - 10 more than any other side in the league - and how that ratio wasn't worsened in the first half was entirely down to goalkeeper Gregg.
Indeed, Gregg had to make three superb stops within the opening eight minutes as UCD opened Bray up almost at will.
The Englishman was sharply into action on five minutes when he raced off his line to clear at the feet of Robbie Martin after Patrick Sullivan's diagonal ball caught Gregg's defence asleep.
Pushing the ball out for a corner with a diving save to his right was next up for Gregg as UCD captain Tony McDonnell, having worked a one-two with Alan Gallen, ghosted through the Bray defence.
Again Gregg was his side's saviour soon after, this time parrying away a stinging shot from Alan Cawley after his defence was once more found bedraggled.
The impressive Cawley then waltzed past Colm Tresson and Wes Charles only to blot his good approach work with a poor finish; his attempted chip went straight to Gregg.
Bray relieved the pressure to enjoy a good spell just before the interval.
An early shot that was a foot wide from Philip Keogh aside, UCD again had by far the better chances in the second half, but the goal just wouldn't come.
