MUNSTER CUP (SH): NEW LIMERICK manager Justin McCarthy must have been disappointed with the outcome in his first game in charge as a late scoring burst which yielded 1-6 in eight minutes gave University Of Limerick a shock win at the Claughaun Grounds yesterday.
Limerick led 0-10 to 1-6 at the interval, but suffered a blow after 28 minutes when Tom Condon was yellow-carded and was replaced by Stephen Walsh.
John Greene scored the UL goal after 23 minutes with free-taker Brian Carroll also keeping them in touch. But when Limerick had the first two points of the second half, from top scorer Niall Moran and the promising David Breen, they looked like taking control.
However, with six minutes remaining Limerick were rocked by a goal by sub David Burke, who caused havoc in the closing stages.
