Ulster 0-15 Connacht 1-6: Just under 500 people turned out at McHale Park, Castlebar, for this semi-final of the M Donnelly Interprovincial championship, a competition that will always be known as the Railway Cup, but it was the Ulster supporters who got value for their money as they watched their side turn an interval deficit of one point (0-5 to 0-4) into a comprehensive victory.

The solid foundation for Ulster's success was laid at midfield where Dan Gordon of Down and Fermanagh's sole representative, Martin McGrath, wrested control from Connacht's Joe Bergin and Séamus O'Neill for most of the second half.

With Down's Paddy Bradley in superb form up front along with Enda Muldoon, Brian Dooher and Seán Cavanagh, Ulster built an eight-point lead with 10 minutes to go.

Their was a momentary reprieve for Connacht when Michael Meehan shot to the net in the 50th minute in what was Connacht's first attack of any substance in that second half, but Ulster were soon back in command.
